Abstract

In 1604 the Waldkirch Publishing House published an anthology of Latin language poems in dedication to Caspar Dornavius on the occasion that he was awarded the title of doctor medicinae. By this time, Dornavius was a prominent representative of the international humanist elite, and he had excellent Hungarian relations throughout his whole life. The short greeting poem of Thököly Miklós and the voluminous greeting poem of Miskolci Csulyak István are published in this book. These poems have been unknown to Hungarian researchers so far, and now it is another proof that Miskolci Csulyak was a remarkable Hungarian Neolatin poet of the era. He was striving to fit into the Neolatin poetry of his age as well as to be connected to the intellectual and cultural context of international late humanism and to the artists of international late humanism.
