Absztrakt
Rivalry between the Allies - German-Ottoman race for the Caucasus (1918). In the last year of World War I, in 1918, somewhat unexpectedly, the two allies, Germany and the Ottoman Empire, faced each other. The reason for the hostility was that both powers demanded the Caucasus region, the routes and raw materials of strategic importance. The Ottoman government could also take steps to unite the Turkish peoples and compensate for the loss of territory in Mesopotamia and Syria. In the summer of 1918, conflicts of interest almost led to a rift between the two allies, with even minor armed clashes. It has been proven that the interest of a great power can override the alliance at any time.
