Absztrakt

In the last decades, research, development and innovation gained importance as a determining factor of regional competitiveness and become central to economic development and growth policy thinking. Therefore European regions paid a high attention on the adaption of regional innovation strategies in the last 15 years and dedicated resources to their implementation. In the last couple of years smart specialisation has become the new phenomena and it had been highlighted in the Europe 2020 strategy and in the Europe 2020 Flagship Initiative Innovation Union [COM(2010)546]. Since then the existence of a RIS3 (Research and Innovation Strategy for Smart Specialization) strategy at national level with regional dimensions become a must-have by the European Commission as an ex-ante conditionality for possible drawing of financial resources from the ERDF Structural Fund for the next programming period (2014-2020), where the topic of research, development and innovation should be one of the main priorities of the EU cohesion policy. Therefore Észak-Alföld region had become a part of the stir and prepared its RJS3 strategy on the request of the Ministry of National Economy and adapted the RIS3 methodology. The current paper will analyse the adaption process of RIS3 methodology in Észak-Alföld region.
