Absztrakt

The purpose of this study is to compare the organising frames of recreational sporting activities in the Hungarian Research Universities, highlighting the availability of sporting facilities. The importance of recreational sport has increased significantly in the last years. This fact is also reflected in the new Program of the Hungarian Universities and Colleges Sports Federation (MEFS), called Hajós Alfréd Project. The main purpose of this project is to develop those practices and implementations, which can increase the structure and quality of recreational sports program services offered within the universities. In the current study, we completed a questionnaire based survey with the directors of the sport departments in the examined universities. Recreational sporting activities were divided into three groups, regular sport programs, casual sporting events and intra-university competitions. The most popular recreational activity was the casual events (13% participation) with the regular sport programs (11%) and competitions to follow (9%). The Hajós Alfréd Project seems to offer an acceptable basis to improve recreational sporting activities; however, a great deal of work is still required in some of the examined institutes.
