Absztrakt

Nowadays, Science Centres, which have a very long tradition in Europe, are continuously spreading in Hungary. These institutions primarily aim at raising public awareness of science in young people via informal learning (hands-on, minds-on etc.) methods. However, this aim can be fruitful only in long terms, which in the current economic situation is not a major priority in most cases. In addition, these "public education" institutions are implemented in a very large area, and significant investment is generally involved. In fact, it leads to increasing operating costs. On the other hand, the European Science Centres work very successfully and contribute to young people's changing attitude towards science. In this paper, I'm searching for answers to the question if based on this secondary research and the applied benchmark visits, it is possible to determine a system-oriented operating model capable of achieving the strategic goals mentioned above. I assume that there must be clear correlation between the success of achieving the strategic goals and the applied functional model.
