Absztrakt

There are multiple identical traits between the profession of a trainer and managerial activities in any other area, one being their main goal: the continuous improvement of performance. As the profession of trainers continually evolved, these similarities were examined mostly from the point of view of professional sportsmanship, but nowadays, sport facilities accesible by the masses, fitness clubs, and trainers working in the fitness segment play an increasingly important role. There are a multitude of factors influencing the effectiveness of trainers working in the field of professional and leisure sports activities alike. As revenues from fitness classes are of a particular importance to sports facilities, it is very important to select the appropriate and adequate professionals, as well as the continuous improvement of their professional skills (Bartha – Perényi, 2014.). The aim of the present study is to provide an analysis and interpretation of the Hungarian and international literature covering the role of professional competencies and qualifications, i.e. the cultural assets of trainers, in efficient leadership, from the point of view of the trainers.
