Absztrakt

Health tourism – being prominent in the tourism of Hungary – became popular among broader and broader layers as the promotion and improvement of their health play more and more important role in the motivation of the guests. Among the renewing services of spa towns the sport tourism and sport investments are becoming increasingly important. Two different branches of sport investments can be distinguished in the spa towns. On the one hand the building of sport halls/stadiums for different sport events, when contestants and spectators arrive in large numbers to the town. On the other hand the expansion of sport centres to satisfy the needs of local people in the towns with high standard of living is also a settlement development strategy. Spa towns are ideal locations for the development of sport centres as they possess the required medical attendance and specialists (sport doctors, trainers, and physiotherapists) related to health tourism. In my research I aim to present the implemented and planned sport developments through three internationally important spa towns (Hévíz, Bük and Gyula) and those characteristics of them which make these settlements a perfect place for the rehabilitation and preparation of professional sportsmen.
