Absztrakt

Competitiveness and stability needs a high level of attention in the public sector just as well as it does in the business sector. Business continuity, predictability, and considering potential risks and uncertainties require constant monitoring. This is especially true in the higher education sector, as it is required to renew from time to time in a dynamically changing law-, social-, and market environment (EMMI 2015). Following these ever changing environments are often very challenging for the higher educational insitutions. Changes related to specialty structures and funding details, and the Hungarian state scholarship system have received a lot of publicity lately. Additionally, the vast majority of higher education institutions have to face the problem of a high rate of students dropping out. In the following, I will demonstrate the main characteristics of today’s national higher educational system based on a secondary research and literature in the subject. I will also summarize the most significant changes that challenged the whole sector of late. The conclusions I made following my research are results of practical experience and analysis of related literature.
