Absztrakt

The article analyses the trends of the international and the Hungarian shared service
(SSC) sector and its possibilities and challenges in the higher education. It was considered
that the SSC market is one of the fastest developing sectors of the Hungarian economy:
more than 40 000 people work in 90 centers and more than 4 000 new jobs are expected in
the following years. The Hungarian SSC sector reached a stage of development, where the
activities are more and more complex, and the value added is higher. That is why the
availability of the skilled labor is a key question for the future development of the sector
in Hungary. Based on the Global Services Location Index (published by A. T. Kearney)
the position of Hungary as a service location is getting worse since 2009 among the central
and eastern European countries, also in the terms of „People skills and availability”. All that underlines the responsibility of the education: How is able to train the Hungarian education system skilled labor in the amount which is necessary for the sector? The article, based on the example of the Edutus College SSC training, shows that there are several possibilities in the collaboration between SSCs and the education system. The biggest challenge is to develop that kind of personal skills which are fundamental in a SSC environment.
