Rimay-hatás Thordai János zsoltáraiban

Absztrakt

The Hungarian translation of the Psalms by János Thordai (in 1627) shows a strong mannerist sinking-in in style. Some of his bold associations and motifs reminding us of János Rimay, the great representative of Hungarian Late Renascence, may arouse the suspicion that Thordai knew the poems of the mannerist poet whose style influenced him. In the comparative examination of motifs I used the normative Hungarian Protestant traslation of the Bible by Gaspar Karoli (Vizsoly 1590.) and the translation of the Psalms in verse by Albert Szenei Molnár, the famous early XVIIth century Protestant translator of the Bible. It came to light that most of the places of the Thordai-Psalms which may become suspected of the influence, differ from the text of the Bible and Szenei but agree with the wording of Rimay. — The biographies don't speak about their personal connection; but we can suppose with more than less certainty, that Thordai's specific style, his mannerism was influenced by the poetry of János Rimay.
