Absztrakt

This paper attempts to present the process and the most important stages of the codification of criminal procedure in Hungary, with particular reference to the principle of the indictment and the institution of the prosecution council. This legislation is a milestone in the history of Hungarian procedural law, as until now this area of law has remained uncodified and heterogeneous in terms of both territory and persons. The prosecution council was present in Hungarian criminal procedure law for almost 50 years.
