A dualizmus korának vázlatos történeti demográfiai sajátosságai
Main Article Content
Absztrakt
For reasons of scope, we briefly reviewed the historical demographic characteristics of the age of dualism (1867–1918). We mentioned the beginning and end of the era. The beginning of the period is connected with the establishment of the Hungarian official statistical service (May 25, 1867). The end of the era is linked to the signing of the Trianon Peace Treaty (June 4, 1920). In the study, we also talked about the most important historical demographic source related to the era, the ”censuses” (1869, 1880, 1890, 1900, 1910). Regarding with the structure of the population, we basically reviewed the mother tongue data. Within the framework of the study, we tried to answer the factors influencing the development of the population and the number of Hungarians. For example we talked about the natural increase, the ”emigration wave” – which was mainly to the USA – and finally the natural and forced assimilation. In the study we also talked about the historical demographic consequences of the Trianon Peace Treaty.
