Absztrakt

The German-Banat Military Frontier was an administrative unit of the Banat Military Frontier. It was located on the present-day Serbian-Romanian border, near the Danube river. The Banat Military Frontier was divided into German, Serbian and Romanian sections. The German section area’s was approximately 42 austrian square miles. The German section was the western part of the Banat Military Frontier. The capital city was Pancsova (Панчево / Pančevo). The inhabitants of this area were colonists and „Frontiersmen”, mostly ethnic Germans and Serbs. The minority groups were Romanians, Slovaks, Hungarians and Croats. The inhabitants of this area were mostly Eastern Ortodox (Serbs, Romanians), Roman Catholics (Germans, Hungarians, Croats) and Evangelists (mostly the Slovaks).
