Abstract

Logistics is an interdisciplinary science that cuts across many aspects of business and commerce. It deals with the planning, implementation, management and control of the flow of energy, (primary) commodities, semi-finished and finished products, persons and information within and between systems. Nowadays, enterprises are ever more dependent on computers and without computer support, it is quite difficult, although not impossible, to plan, manage and control the processes of an enterprise. Spreadsheets - which are available as part of office suites - have (also) become standard equipment in corporate environments. The purpose of this publication is to show how a modern, sophisticated spreadsheet can contribute to solving logistics problems.
