Main Article Content
Abstract
There are no similar leaders considering their personality, because what make them unique is their personality traits. Is there a similar conclusion about the leadership styles? Also, are there any differences between women and man leaders’ styles? There are several researches in the literature about how the leadership styles differ from each other, as well about what are these differences in the gender perspective. Based on classic and recent studies, current research is examining whether there are different leadership styles according to personal skills. The personal skills of the leaders from the hospitality industry are examined by three questionnaires: Communication Styles Questionnaire, Thomas Kilmann Konflict Resolution Questionnaire, Leadership Skills Questionnaire. Data is analyzed by Principal Component Analysis and emphasized three different components. Comparing the correlation of the skills, the three components are similar to the leadership styles of Lewin (autocratic, democratic, laissez-faire). However, not all the personal skills are similar to the leadership traits of each styles, therefore it seems, the three categories are not rigidly determined, because other personality traits and other circumstances or different situations could influence the participant’s leadership styles. There is a difference between women and men leadership styles. Women tend to use democratic leadership style while men choose both autocratic and laisses-faire leadership styles.
