Abstract

Without a doubt, the Hungarian labour market had an extraordinary development path in the last 10 years. As the global crisis took its toll to Hungary, the employment rate reached the lowest level among Visegrad countries in 2009, but in the following few years is not just simply bottomed out: employment rate has boomed. To maintain this trend labour market policies must be aware of the employment abilities of firms in the different sectors. This paper is concerning with the analysis of the relationship between employment and revenues in the sectors. The study uses a database that based on the annual reports for 2016 of the firms headquartered in Hajdú-Bihar county. It identifies a model that explains the relationship of the two indicators in every sector best. Linear regression fits well for all sectors, but the slope differs a lot. In the case of trading sector, it is 162, compared to the 8,9 for the service sector. It proves that different policies should be made for the different sectors.
