Abstract

Companies are struggling to manage their shortage of talented people. Strategies are built on to find and attract the well-educated, motivated employees who are willing to work and improve themself. It is neccesary to understand the needs of the young professional workforce in order to shorten the long process of recruitment and become more competitive in the labour market. Providing a higher salary may be enough to recruit talented employees, however it might not be the most effective method to retain them for a long time. A well-coordinated career management system always starts with the process of selection, but the next steps are based on finding balance between the employee’s career goal and the company’s interest. In this research, some of the big corporations from the North-Plain in Hungary and their career- and talent management practices will be compared and presented. The method for the comparison are case studies and interviews with the human resource professionals of the corporations.
