Absztrakt

The availability, quality and quantity of natural resources distribution are key components of socioeconomic development. The role of natural resources therefore in promoting balanced regional development should be more clearly emphasized. Most studies on the Danube Region focus on the political heterogeneity, and the environmental impacts of freight transport, logistics and competitive development of national economies. Recent studies have found that an integrated approach with regard to multi-level governance is more effective. A Danube-wide understanding of resource management is needed to develop a suitable transnational cooperation in the Danube River Basin. Through the means of an integrated governance based on efficient resource management the riparian countries have the potential to converge and strengthen their stability, also macro regionalisation can accelerate the catching up phase of the Central and Eastern European countries.
