Absztrakt

On June 4, 1920, the Ipoly River was named by the Trianon Peace Treaty as the new political border of Hungary in this part of the country. So the settlement structure that was organically interconnected on both banks of the river (Ipolyhívég–Drégelypalánk) has been artificially split. This artificial isolation is particularly noticeable by examining changes in number and position of bridges. The bridges provided a direct and everyday connection between the villages on both banks of the river. The inhabitants of these towns and villages around the two banks of the river have been isolated from each other in 1920, and they are living now in different countries, however their history, traditions and economy are basically very similar. Cross river, and thus cross-border connections have been broken through the destruction of bridges and crossroads. These relationships, whether they are kinships, social or economic, have vital importance to restore the health of a region from all espects. The boundary here devides a homogeneous, cohesive population area so far. The populace of Ipoly area is a community of type domains capable of reinterpreting the unity of the historicalgeographical-cultural-economic region.
