Between Formularies and Letter Books The Manuscript Fol. Lat. 1656. of the National Széchényi Library

Abstract

The study contributes new data to formularies that were long-neglected in Hungarian medieval studies, advancing research on them. The short historiographic introduction is followed by the presentation of a formulary-manuscript, available in the National Széchényi Library, which comprises a large number of unpublished charters from the Jagiellonian Era. In addition to the importance of the undiscovered charters hidden in the codices representing the genre, the paper draws attention to the terminology issues in the formularies and letter books.
