A levélíró Bethlen Miklós arcképéhez : két kiadatlan levél közlésével

Abstract

The letters of the famous seventeenth century Transylvanian politician and memoirist have not been examined as works of art yet. This study is to prove his capacities in letter-writing, too. On the one hand Bethlen's letters are trusty sources for historians and on the other, lend themselves to follow the development of his prose, before and after his chef-d'oeuvre: Memoires (Önéletírás). Two unpublished missives are added to represent the forerunners of his methods used in his well-known book.
