Taming Hungarian Literary Romanticism (An Attempt to Shape a Hypothesis)

Abstract

This paper offers a theoretical proposition about Hungarian literary Romanticism from the point of view of whether and if so, what happened to the elements of Romanticism that the recipient judged too subversive. How the disquieting metaphysical orientation, man's open image, unsolved ontological questions etc. inherent of the Romantic worldview were tamed into the harmonious worldview of the national paradigm.
