Abstract

In our study we are dealing with the background of ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivi-ty Disorder), which is one of the most common childhood disorders. Nowadays the num-ber of diagnosed ADHD is increasing in USA and Hungary as well. Recently ADHD affects about 5% of Hungárián children age 6-18 years, which means 70.000 children. Symptoms include difficulty staying focused and paying attention, difficulty controlling behaviour, and hyperactivity (over-activity). Scientists are not sure what causes ADHD, although many studies suggest that genes play a large role. In addition to genetics, researchers are looking at possible environmental factors, like smoking, drog, etc., and psychosocial fac-tors, like attachment.
