Abstract
Special attention is given to the local economic development in the EU and national planning documents between 2014–2020. The National Regional Development Concept encourages finding a new balance between the use of external and internal resources, as on the local resources based local economic development offers opportunities for development in the respective area. Create the conditions for a self-sustaining social economy based on local production is also included in the Somogy County Development Programme priorities. This approach previously existed in our country and now comes into view again as an alternative to the consumer society. The research was carried out in the most disadvantaged micro-regions Kadarkút. Its aim was to investigate the local economy of this micro-region, to explore the cooperation between operators of the local economic, to collect the opportunities of the local development, to collect the existing and planned initiatives and local products, as well to analysis the use of alternative energy sources in the community care. Another goal was to get answers to the question of revival and operation of the local economy is a chance to break out for the backward micro-regions, or just an unavoidable constraint.
