Abstract
The number of international students has reached 3200 at the University of Pécs in the September of the 2016/17 semester. 6% of these students are made up of student coming from neighbouring countries. The target group was queried via surveys.
The study presents the university selection factors of the ethnic Hungarian students coming from neighbouring countries enrolled in the training programs of the UP, mapped by countries, and then exploring the similarities between the certain countries studied. In addition to the aspects of choosing university, the analysis focuses on the success of the integration of young student and the measurement of the satisfaction during the time spent at the university.
The results show that the young people who took part in filling out the survey were motivated by building their future, opportunities for future jobs and building relationships as well as gaining knowledge to take part in the graduate mobility program. The result of several questions is related to the fact that the opinion of the University of Pécs is considered average in the neighbouring countries. Choosing a university was primarily determined by the recommendations of friends and acquaintances, and secondly, the reputation of the university, the quality of education and information provided by the Internet or the media also played a role. The target group is moderately or more satisfied with the services provided by the university. At the time of their arrival, the greatest difficulty in integrating for the young people was the local bureaucracy and building their social life.
