Absztrakt

The Creditbank of Fiume was established by the Hungarian General Creditbank and Arturo Steinacker in Fiume in 1881. First it operated in the name of Steinacker & Co. Ltd., but later in 1887 it became the Creditbank of Fiume. In 1907 the local company joined tot he General Creditbank, and has lost its independence, Therefore, in my lecture and study, I present how this financial institution settled in the Hungarian port city of Fiume (which was the only pier to the world market for Hunary), and how it created many new and innovative factories like the first Hungarian Rice milling Ltd., the first Oil Refinrey Company in the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy. and other important local industrial companies. In my research I rely on my collection in the Fiume State Archives and the sources found in the Hungarian Compasses. From my work, I look forward to seeing how Fiume's financial life works 100 years ago and see how FDI investments in the port city were working during the dualism.
