Abstract

The economic role of plastics has become increasingly important in recent years. Their production is growing steadily, especially in the market for FMCG products. A European Strategy for Plastics in a Circular Economy was adopted by EU members in 2018. These efforts seem to be contradicted by the amount of plastic used in the HORECA sector, which, due to regulations, has to be replaced by environmentally friendly ones. We have realized this problem and outlined our research. We aimed to get to know the attitudes, opinions and habits of the Hungarian population, including the consumers of the HORECA sector, regarding environmental protection. Prior to our primary research, we studied relevant domestic and international netnographic research with the goal of preparing our own empirical research.
