The Debate on the Introduction of Primary Teacher Training (1945–1947)

Abstract

The Hungarian primary school, as a type of school, is celebrating its 77th birthday this year. In addition to presenting the circumstances of its creation, my study focuses on the debate surrounding the education of primary school teachers. Teachers from the Ministry of Education, the Trade Union, the Public Education Council and various types of schools have presented theit arguments in the professional media, mainly in the journal titled „Köznevelés”. Primary school teacher training began in 1947, but it has come a long way in consolidating the system.
