Memories from the past: the peculiarities of kindergarten education in Vojvodina based on interviews with kindergarten teachers

Abstract

Nowadays, there are still few historical studies of education that reveal the history of the operation of Hungarian kindergartens in Vojvodina operating in socialist Yugoslavia (1945-1991). Therefore, the aim of this research is to provide supplements for learning about the inner life of Hungarian kindergarten education in Vojvodina, from the 1970s to the 1980s. We chose the method of document analysis and oral history for the investigation. In this study, we present a narrower field of research. We focus on the qualitative analysis of certain questions of the narrative interview. Through historical reminiscences, we describe the everyday dimensions, events and attitudes of kindergarten teachers. As a result of our research, reflective content can be created that can serve as a basis for a later large-scale data collection, as well as contribute to research on the professionalization of Hungarian kindergarten teachers in Vojvodina.
