Abstract

Today’s key competences include communication competencies. The National Core Curriculum published in 2020, which is the basic document of domestic education, unlike the previous practice, views native language and foreign language communication competences as a unit within this area of competence. With this, it also wishes to emphasize that our country is committed to the principle of individual multilingualism. One of the possibilities for the development of individual multilingualism is the acquisition of a foreign language in early childhood. This study focuses on the specifics of this special learning and teaching process. After a short theoretical overview, it presents the path of children’s learning that can also be successfully applied in foreign language education, illustrated with concrete practical examples, gentle language education, which also facilitates the transition from kindergarten to school.
