Photographic theory and political iconographic reflections
Main Article Content
Abstract
Do the images help you learn about history? How legitimate is photography as a source in scientific discourse? Do photographs represent reality? Do photographs lie? Is the photograph a model of reality or a social construction? To what extent are images able to be used by different explanations of the world and ideologies? Is the ideological dimension or the aesthetic the more prominent approach in photographic theory? Questions for which there are no clear answers, no black and white solutions. The way forward is to reflect on these issues and to take stock of the ideas that have already been formulated on the subject.
