Personal history (Dénes Krusovszky: Akik már nem leszünk sosem)

Abstract

The protagonist of Dénes Krusovszky's contemporary, generational novel travels to the place of his childhood. The character steps out of his everyday, familiar life to better understand it, and follows his memories. One of the novel's questions is: how much are we part of what is happening around us? Is there really an event that we are not involved in, or is our participation and involvement just a matter of being attentive and present? The novel explores points of contact and life possibilities that parallel historical and current events and create their own local narratives alongside global interpretations.
