Leadership challenges and solutions in the „era of the screen”– edifications of the pandemic

Abstract
The covid-19 pandemic, the most determinant crisis of the last few years, provoked radical changes in all types of organizations; work was carried out, partly or entirely, from home office. The paper presents the effects of the pandemic on managers and leadership. It focuses on challenges brought about by the fact that most of the organizational activities were moved to the online space, and the solutions managers came up with to meet those challenges. Eleven interviews were conducted in seven organizations about the experiences of executives in carrying out management functions, such as organizing, leading, motivating, communicating and control, through computer screens. Our enquiry covers executives’ impressions of their subordinates’ reactions to the unexpected and forced arrival of the „era of the screen”.
